How We Started
The story of Bakersfield Bakehouse begins with a simple idea: that good bread doesn't need to be complicated. In a small rented kitchen, we mixed flour, water, and patience, slowly developing techniques that honored traditional methods. Over time, the operation outgrew the space. We moved to a storefront on Chester Avenue, expanded our equipment, and invited more hands to help. What remained constant was the focus on process—meticulous fermentation, careful shaping, and respect for each ingredient. The bakery grew not by chasing trends, but by listening to what the community valued: honest bread made with care.
